Marge Babcock is an award-winning artist living on Cape Cod in Brewster,
MA. She has strong ancestral ties to Cape Cod beginning with the Reverend Thomas Crosby who settled in Eastham in 1655. She is also a direct descendent of sea captains who sailed the waters off the Cape.
Marge comes from a family of artists and was introduced to fine art during childhood. She has pursued independent study and workshops over the years. While living in Maryland, she studied pastel portrait painting with Elizabeth Byrd Mitchell, who later founded the Mitchell School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. She also explored painting in oils in the style of the Schuler School and learned the Jacques Maroger technique in the tradition of the Old Masters.
Custom frames are carefully chosen to complement each painting. Quality canvas and final varnishing also ensure that a work of art will endure to be appreciated for many, many years.
Marge is a juried member of the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable, as well as a member of the Creative Arts Center in Chatham. She is represented by the Eastwind Gallery, Orleans, MA. |
