Porter Lewis
Drawing and painting have always been a part of Porter’s life. As a youth he had numerous classes at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Maryland Institute but did not pursue this calling with seriousness for many years. After graduation from the United Stated Naval Academy he served a full career as a submarine officer, before returning to his first love, initially watercolor and more recently oils. His subjects are highly varied, encompassing landscape, seascape, still life and portraiture.
He has studied with Cape artists Marilyn Schofield, Maryalice Eizenberg, Mary Carroll Allen and Patrick Blackwell and with Mystic, Connecticut artist Patricia Browne, as well participating in workshops with Rosalie Nadeau, Steve Allrich, and William Maloney.
A member of Chatham’s Creative Arts Center and an artist member of the Cape Cod Museum, Porter shows his work at the Eastwind Gallery and with the Nauset Painters Guild in Orleans. |
